Rahu and Ketu are two mathematical points that arise from the intersection of the Moon’s orbit around earth and earth’s orbit around the Sun. The north intersection point is called Rahu and the south point is called Ketu. It must be noted that Rahu and Ketu move in clockwise direction opposite to the rest of the planets.
Although these are two diametrically opposite mathematical entities, their effect on life on earth is so profound that they have been elevated to the rank of real planets.
In 2016, Rahu transits along the zodiac and enters astrology sign Leo on 29/1/2016. Ketu enters Aquarius on the same date. These planets will transit these sign until 9/11/2017. After that date Rahu will enter Cancer and Ketu will move to Capricorn.
The results of Rahu transits are given below.
Aries: Arguments and squabbles with near and dear ones are likely. Fear from enemies and disease haunts you. Worries and expenses increase. Children and your studies are also affected.
Taurus: Relationship with a sibling is affected by quarrels. Expenses outstrip income. Unfruitful running around causes fatigue. Career and profession related activities are impeded.
Gemini: There is an increase in enthusiasm and self belief. A fruitful journey is indicated. Opportunities for growth and financial gains abound. A promotion is likely. Success in attempts to travel abroad.
Cancer: Domestic and professional life remains tense. Wasteful expenses are likely. Health needs special care. Neither lend money nor borrow it.
Leo: Strained relations with close relatives. Delays in completion of plans and projects. A long journey is indicated. Expenses and health need careful monitoring.
Virgo: Impediments in smooth executions of plans. Despite good efforts, plans are not executed. Sudden expenses keep you worried.
Libra: Some projects that had stalled in the past now move towards completion. You may buy a car or a house or both. Gains of money and consequent happiness are indicated. A foreign travel is likely.
Scorpio: Increased running around chasing objectives is indicated. Obstacles arise in your plans. Domestic complications keep you tense.
Sagittarius: Enough money is generated despite adverse circumstances at home. Close relatives are likely to oppose you. You may end up buying a car.

Pisces: Sudden gains of money are likely. Meeting with a long lost relative are indicated. Career grows well now. Harmony and happiness prevail at home.
Remedies for adverse Rahu.
Donation of Til (sesame seeds), Til oil, brown colored clothes, brown blanket, Coconut and a mixture of seven cereals like wheat, rice, barley, Til, Moong, Kangani and Chana proves very beneficial.
Rahu Gayatri
ॐ नीलवर्णाय विद्महे सैंहिकेयाय धीमहि तन्नो राहुः प्रचोदयात।
राहु मन्त्र
ॐ भ्रां भ्रीं भ्रौं सः राहवे नमः
Rahu Gayatri should be chanted at least 28 times every evening. After this, Rahu Mantra should be chanted 108 times to remove the ill effects of Rahu placement in the birth chart and Rahu transit.
Chanting of Maha Mritunjaya Mantra also known as Trayambak Mantra also removes all problems caused by Rahu.
