What gemstones really are?
Gems are mineral crystals of different types that were formed millions of years ago when the molten rocks or Magma was cooling down to form earth’s crust. As the earth cooled, the crystals formed and got attached to other rocks and minerals that were being formed at the same time. Minerals like Corundum or Aluminum Oxide is pure white in color but may often be colored differently due to the impurities caused by other metal compounds. On the left is a picture of a Corundum crystal that is colored slight blue and is known as Neelam or Sapphire. This crystal on the right appears red due to the presence of Chromium salts.
रत्न वह खनिज पदार्थ हैं जो कि करोड़ों वर्ष पूर्व बने थे जब पृथ्वी पिघले हुए लावे का गोला थी। जैसे जैसे पृथ्वी ठंडी होती गयी कई तरल खनिज पदार्थ जैसे के स्फटिक क्रिस्टल के रूप में बदल गए और आस पास की चट्टानों से जुड़ गए। एल्युमीनियम ऑक्साइड जैसे पदार्थ भी क्रिस्टल में बदल गए। वैसे तो एल्युमीनियम ऑक्साइड का कोई रंग नहीं होता पर दूसरे खनिजों के इसमें मिलने से इसका रंग अलग अलग जगहों पर अलग अलग हो गया। क्रोमियम के मिलने से यह लाल हो गया और माणिक कहलाया। इसी तरह अलग अलग तत्वों के मिश्रण से अलग रंगों के रत्नों की उत्पत्ति हुई।

इन क्रिस्टल्स को खनन द्वारा भूगर्भ से निकाला जाता है। इनकी सफाई के बाद इनको काटा और पॉलिश किया जाता है और तब ये वह रत्न बन जाते हैं जो हम गहनों के रूप में पहनते हैं।

Ruby is the representative mineral of Sun on earth. Chemically speaking it is a crystal of Aluminum oxide which is represented by the chemical formula Al2O3. Aluminum oxide is also known as corundum and physically is a very hard crystal second only to a diamond in hardness. Corundum is white in color but appears red due to some impurities caused by chromium salts. A single crystal of red corundum may exhibit different shades of red due to varying amounts of other salts. Rubies may therefore
vary in color from pinkish to violet/purplish red in color. In strong light they appear brighter. Sun is the king and the father of the solar system and represents the ruling class as also the people with authority and power. Like Janma and Chandra Lagna, Sun too is considered a Lagna in itself. Sun represents self, ego, father, body, skeletal system, bones and general health. If Sun becomes the lord of Lagna, fifth or ninth house, he becomes very helpful and in such cases one can wear a ruby without a second thought. In other cases, a ruby should be worn keeping in mind the strength of Sun in the birth chart and whether or not his Maha Dasha is running.
माणिक
माणिक सूर्य का प्रतिनिधि रत्न है। यह एल्युमीनियम ऑक्साइड का क्रिस्टल है और इसका केमिकल फार्मूला Al2O3 है। इसे कौरेण्डम के नाम से जाना जाता है, यह बहुत ही कठोर रत्न है और कठोरता में हीरे के बाद इसका ही नंबर है। कौरेण्डम का कोई रंग नहीं होता पर इसमें क्रोमियम के मिश्रण से यह लाल बन जाता है।
कौरेण्डम के एक ही क्रिस्टल में लाल से ले कर जामुनी तक अलग अलग तरह के रंग हो सकते हैं क्योंकि हर एक तत्व अपना एक विशेष रंग देता है। इसीलिए माणिक लाल, गुलाबी और जामुनी रंगों में पाया जाता है। तेज़ रौशनी में ये रंग अधिक बेहतर रूप में दिखाई देते हैं। हमारे सौरमंडल में सूर्य राजा और पिता का प्रतीक है। इसके अलावा उच्च स्तर के अधिकारी गणों का प्रतिनिधित्व भी सूर्य ही करता है। लग्न एवं चंद्र की तरह सूर्य को भी एक स्वतंत्र लग्न माना जाता है।
सूर्य से आत्म, अहंकार, काया, हड्डियों और स्वास्थ्य का भी विवेचन होता है। सूर्य अगर पांचवे या नौवें भाव का स्वामी बनता है तो अत्यंत भाग्य कारक हो जाता है। ऐसे जातकों को आँख मूँद कर माणिक धारण कर लेना चाहिए। अन्य कुंडलियों में सूर्य का पूर्णतया अध्ययन करके माणिक पहनना चाहिए।
Pearl or Muktak represents Moon in Vedic astrology and is easily the most valued of the organic gems. It is formed when a small speck of sand falls in an oyster shell and begins to irritate the mollusk living inside it. To stop the irritation the mollusk tries to coat the speck with its secretions called nacre. In time the size of the nacre grows and becomes a round pearl. A pearl is a therefore a very special and exclusive gift of nature. The most valued pearls come from the ocean and have a visible luster or sheen with the most common being white or cream with a rose overtone. Pearls from the gulf of Basra on the Iraq coast are
world famous.
मोती या मुक्तक चन्द्र का प्रतिनिधि रत्न है और जैविक प्राणियों से प्राप्त होने वाले रत्नों में सबसे मूल्यवान है। यह सीप में से मिलने वाला रत्न है। सीप में जब कोई रेत का कण गिर जाता है तो वह सीप में रहने वाले जंतु को चुभने लगता है और उसे तंग कर देता है। इस चुभन से बचने के लिए सीप अपने शरीर से निकलने वाले पदार्थ से उसे ढक देता है और धीरे धीरे यह कण मोती बन जाता है। रेत के कण को ढकने वाले जैविक पदार्थ को नैक्रे कहते हैं और इसका रंग सफ़ेद होता है पर हलके पीले और हलके गुलाबी मोती भी देखे जाते हैं । सबसे मूल्यवान मोती समुद्र में से निकलते हैं और बसरा की खाड़ी से निकलने वाले मोती सर्वोत्तम माने जाते हैं।
These days pearls are cultivated artificially by deliberately adding small bits of crushed pearls to mollusk colonies which are grown in sea water in cages. The mollusks are harvested periodically and the pearls removed. Japanese pearls which are grown using this technique are superior to the Chinese variety in which the pearl is grown over a plastic ball instead of a real pearl core.
आजकल मोती एक खेती की तरह से उगाये जाते हैं। सीप प्रजाती में एक मोती का छोटा सा कण डाला जाता है और मोती बनने की प्रक्रिया शुरू हो जाती है। ऐसा उन हज़ारो सीप जंतुओं में किया जाता है जो की स्टील के पिंजरों में समुद्र में पाले जाते हैं। जब मोती पूरा बन जाता है तो सीप को खोल कर उसे निकाल लिया जाता है। जापानी मोती को अधिक उत्कृष्ट माना जाता है क्योंकि उनमें असली मोती का बीज होता है जबकि चीनी मोती एक प्लास्टिक की छोटी बॉल पर उगाया जाता है।
Moon represents the mind, emotional nature, affluence and public perception of an individual. Everyone can and should wear a pearl. There are no astrological restrictions connected to it. Wearing a Pearl brings harmony and stability to mind. Pearl is especially recommended when Moon is in the grip of Saturn, Rahu or Sun. For astrological remedies, pearl should be as close to a sphere as possible. It should not have an oval shape and the nacre should be without any indentations. The preferred size is at least ten millimeters.
चंद्रमा मन का प्रतीक होता है और मनुष्य की भावनाओं को दर्षाता है इसके साथ साथ ये मनुष्य की सम्पन्नता और उसकी सामाजिक स्थिति का भी द्योतक होता है। हर कोइ मोती धारण कर सकता है क्यों की चन्द्रमा को ६, ८, १२ भावों का स्वामी होने का दोष नहीं लगता। मोती को चांदी की अंगूठी में धारण करने से मनः स्थिति शांत हो जाती है एवं क्रोध और अंतरद्वंद शांत हो जाते हैं। जब चंद्रमा राहु, शनि से ग्रस्त हो या सूर्य के बिल्कुल पास हो तो विचलित मनःस्थिति देता है, ऐसी स्थिति में मोती पहनना अत्यावश्यक हो जाता है। एक अच्छा मोती सफ़ेद, सुडौल और पूर्णतया गोल होता है, अंडाकार और एक तरफ से सपाट मोती त्याज्य हैं। मोती में कोई गड्ढा और अन्य प्रकार की विकृति नहीं होनी चाहिए।
